Disposable paper cup manufacturing process: Coating of base paper --- Slitting --- Layout design --- Printing --- Die-cutting --- Disinfection --- Forming --- Disinfection and packaging --- Storage. First, the width of the paper is processed based on the printing plate orientation and method. This involves either slitting or die-cutting, followed by printing. Printing methods include offset printing and flexographic printing. Next comes die-cutting, which involves cutting the printed paper into individual fan-shaped paper pieces. It is worth noting that some advanced machines can perform die-cutting automatically. Finally, forming takes place, which requires two components: the cup body and the cup base.

The cup body refers to the fan-shaped pieces produced by die-cutting, while the cup base of disposable paper cups is made from paper rolls cut into different specifications. The four processes—slitting [cross-cutting], printing, die-cutting, and forming—involve four types of machinery. All four machines require a common auxiliary resource: compressed air. The equipment includes: slitting machines, die-cutting machines, (pre-printing equipment: plate making, plate exposure), printing machines, and paper cup forming machines.

The production process for disposable paper cups used for cold beverages involves direct printing on the paper cup base material, die-cutting, forming, and applying food-grade wax to the surface. The production process for hot beverage cups involves coating the paper cup base material with a film to create paper cup paper, followed by printing, die-cutting, and forming. Hot beverage cups require coating with a film and cannot be coated with wax, as heat may cause the wax to melt, which could be harmful to health. This is the key difference. Paper cup paper printing uses water-based flexographic ink. For raw paper materials, many paper manufacturers offer printing and die-cutting services, so when initially investing in establishing a paper cup or paper bowl factory, you can directly purchase pre-printed and pre-die-cut paper cup blanks. Since printing and die-cutting costs account for a small proportion of the total production cost, the main cost factors are the specifications and dimensions of the paper cups and the weight of the paper.
